Many times client concerns are complicated. As we take a holistic approach to addressing concerns, it may be beneficial to utilize a combination of services including mind-body techniques, nutritional support and counseling for mental and emotional issues. Often weight loss, chronic dieting, binge or stress eating and body image issues require both professional counseling and a structured nutritional program. Melissa and I work together with clients that are seeking behavioral, emotional and a physiological health.
Melissa Madeson-Niblett, PhD
I have a PhD in Sport and Exercise Psychology, and come from an athletic background of long distance running, triathlons and strength training. I started yoga for the physical benefits but fell in love with the peace, calm, joy and mindfulness that it brings to my soul. I became a certified yoga instructor and continued training and education classes realizing the healing powers it can have both physically and emotionally. I am fascinated by the mind-body connection and the power of the mind to heal and restore the body and vice versa. I completed a second Masters Degree in Counseling and Human Development and currently work with clients as an licensed counselor and yoga therapist. Additionally, I teach as an adjunct professor at Hardin Simmons University. My specialties include combining yoga and mindfulness with counseling techniques (CBT, DBT) and working with anxiety, trauma, stress, emotional eating and relationship issues.
Garland Niblett, IPE
I am the marketing director and co-founder of Fit and Faithful Wellness. I am a Certified Nutritional Consultant through the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, IPE. I am passionate about health, fitness and nutrition. Within my 20 plus years as a personal trainer, I have battled through PTSD and being classified as morbid obese. I know the side of being fit to a degree of competing as a bodybuilder but I also know how it feels to be overweight and having to rely on several prescribed medications. I specialize in binge/emotional eating, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and weight loss by the use of Intermittent Fasting. My wife and I are committed to helping people find peace with their body and loving who they are, and not what society expects them to look like.
